Atlassian Data Center ends in 2029. Plan your move to Cloud now.
Atlassian is retiring Data Center for Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management. We help Australian organisations decide what to move, clean up what they keep and land in Atlassian Cloud with their history intact.

The dates that matter
30 March 2026 (passed)
New customers can no longer buy Data Center subscriptions or new Data Center Marketplace apps.
30 March 2028
Existing customers can no longer buy new subscriptions, expansions, upgrades or Data Center apps. Growing teams need a cloud plan before then.
28 March 2029
End of life. Subscriptions and apps expire and instances become read-only.

Why start in 2026
Starting early is the cheaper option.
Most of the cost of a migration sits in what you carry across. The earlier you start, the more you can leave behind.
Clean up first
Years of custom fields, duplicate workflows and unused apps slow a migration down. Retire them before you move and you only pay to migrate what you use.
Plan every app
Some Data Center apps have no like-for-like cloud version. Finding the gaps early leaves time to redesign the process instead of rushing a workaround.
Avoid the 2028 squeeze
Once expansions stop in March 2028, a growing team has no room on Data Center, and partner capacity tightens as the deadline nears.
Use what Cloud offers
Rovo AI, automation and the newer Jira Service Management features are built for Cloud first.
How it works
A Data Center to Cloud migration, in four steps.
Step 1
Readiness review
We audit projects, workflows, custom fields, users, apps and integrations, and flag what to keep, merge or retire.
Step 2
Cloud design and app plan
We map each Data Center app to a cloud option, recommend Standard, Premium or Enterprise, and agree data residency requirements.
Step 3
Test migration
A trial run with Atlassian's migration tools into a sandbox, checked by your team before anything changes in production.
Step 4
Cut-over and adoption
A planned cut-over window, clear communication and short training so teams are productive on day one.

Common questions
Will our Data Center instance stop working in 2029?
It becomes read-only on 28 March 2029. You can still view data, but teams cannot create or update work. Atlassian may offer extended maintenance by exception.
Can we keep our data in Australia?
Atlassian Cloud offers data residency options, including Australia, on eligible plans. We confirm the right plan for your compliance needs during the readiness review.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on the number of projects, apps and integrations. The readiness review gives you a plan, a timeline and a fixed scope before you commit.
What happens to our Marketplace apps?
We check every app for a cloud version, a native Cloud feature that replaces it, or a process change that removes the need for it.
See what your system of work could look like.
We'll review your current setup live, name the three biggest gaps and recommend a next step. You keep the findings either way.
